THE OTTMAN SECT AND HEALING BLOWS Since the 12th century, sects’ various ways of expression have been reflected on tools, consequently sects started using their symbols on them. The bowls wearing prayers and verses from the Koran were believed to heal people who drank water with them. They are generally made of bronze, gems, ivory and ceramic. In the middle of these bowls there is a circle decorated with roses and descriptions of the Prophet Mohammed. The circle is surrounded by prayers in Arabic, Persian and Syriac language. The twelve cuspidate bowls are Bektaşi bowls representing the Twelve Imams. | |||
